About Us...

JPZ Enterprises is Jeannie Pershin and Terry McElhaney, a sibling team who grew up in Littleton almost within spittin' distance of their shop. "Littleton is our hometown and we take great pride in that fact. Our goal is to create a business which adds to the richness and energy of Littleton as a community and a great place to call home."

Jeannie hoopin' it up in the Western Welcome Week parade - 1960Jeannie (LHS class of '68) started in the coffee business in 1996 with a small coffee nook in the old Englewood Library by the name of Tuileries. This location became a favorite hangout for the local bookworms craving the warmth of coffee and it was here that she developed her craft as a barista.

Terry enjoying some melon - 1958In 1998, the City of Littleton moved the old D&RG station to its current location to serve as the new light rail station. The next year, Jeannie convinced her brother Terry (LHS class of '70) to join as partners and the two began writing letters and making phone calls inquiring as to the city's plans for the building. Their perseverance paid off when they were chosen to be the vendor at the new light rail stop in early 2000. Romancing the Bean opened its doors on July 15th - the same day as the first light rail riders boarded the train at the station.

The next year saw explosive growth as the partners opened a cozy coffee bar in the Koelbel Public Library called Stirrings. They also jumped at the opportunity to operate the snack bar at Hudson Gardens and Oasis on the Platte quickly became a favorite stop for both garden visitors and outdoor enthusiasts using the South Platte (Mary Carter Greenway) bike trail.

Jeannie & Terry at their 10th Anniversary celebrationJeannie and Terry have since consolidated their businesses to concentrate on just Romancing the Bean. Their goal of creating unique a shop which adds to the friendly hometown atmosphere of Historic Downtown Littleton continues as they celebrate 15 years at this location.
